Marlene Wertz Clawson
September 10, 1935 - October 14, 2007
Savannah- Mrs. Marlene Wertz Clawson, 72, died Sunday, October 14, 2007 at Memorial Health University Medical Center after a short illness.
The native of Antioch, Illinois attended the University of Illinois before moving to Savannah 41 years ago. She was employed with American Cyanamid for 10 years before joining her husband with his business; Geothermics, Inc. Marlene was a devoted wife and mother. She spent most of her life making life for her family the best it could be. Her husband of 52 years, Paul Clawson preceded her in death earlier this year.
Survivors: daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry & James McClain of Savannah and Kimberly & Huston Parsons of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren, Matthew J. McClain and Christopher J. McClain of Savannah and Taylor Parsons and Michelle Parsons of Kennesaw; brothers, Don Wertz of Texas and Bob Wertz of Flagstaff, AZ and sister, Mary Cunningham of Antioch, IL.
Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 18, 2007 at Wilmington Island United Methodist Church with Reverend John Mitchell officiating.
Burial: Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
Remembrances may be made to Wilmington Island United Methodist Church, 195 Wilmington Island Rd., Savannah, GA 31410.
Sincerest sympathy to the Clawson daughters and their families as Marlene's ' co-in-law ' having her wonderful daughter, Kim, as my daughter in law and remembering all the fun times we shared together... Marlene was alot of fun, very warm and hospitable, and always elegant ! She devoted herself to her family & friends. She will be very much missed !! Joy Crippen Parsons
